power, practice privilege.

This week I’m engaged in my first conference as a Georgetown Day School employee. *squeals*

GDS is hosting a 3 day symposium on whiteness. This is an event created for, by, and about white folks. Hmmm, doesn’t that describe most events in independent schools? YUP. The difference for this event is that it is created to provide space for participants to “unpack the realities, dynamics, and uses of our white privilege” and how it manifests in our schools and classrooms.

The first day left me feeling inspired, excited, unsettled and affirmed in my decision to uproot and join the GDS faculty. Throughout the next few days, I will be publishing my #SketchNotes from each day. Hope you find something that challenges, uplifts or unsettles you.

Love and light,
