I have just begun reading Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture, a book of essays edited by Roxane Gay. I happened upon it when browsing the New Releases section of the public library, and checked it out without knowing much about it because I admire Gay’s previous work. Having only read about 70 pages, the stories have opened up wounds I’ve long tried to bury and created space for healing that I did not believe possible.
Below are my first #SketchNotes from the book. This essay from Claire Schwartz beautifully and heartbreakingly captures her experiences as a woman, partner, rape survivor and friend.
Thank you, Claire.
Thank you, Roxane.
Thank you to all those who can say #metoo.
Love and light,
